Perseverance and Consistency – The Keys to Success
To reach what you deem success will rarely be simple and easy.  But before we talk about what it takes to get there, we first need to understand what success actually is.    Arthur Ashe, that great tennis star of the past once said,  ”Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.”   This is particularly true of the two characteristic we are speaking about. Success is always born out of and action.
Each of us would love to achieve this thing called success without these two attributes but that it is that extra push with that will be the catalyst to achieving what is called “success”.  R.C.  Allan in his classic book,  ”The Secret of Success” said that people would love to know rather than guess what is required for success and they would “gladly pay the price if it will produce a greater abundance of health, wealth and harmony in their lives.”  While for some, this would seem elusive, yet, it does not have to have any mystery attached to it.
Having a consistent action habit will invariable on it very own begin to propel you toward the goal of success.   Consistency is a principle and it not only deals with action but also with what you think and what you say.  It must be congruent in all areas of your life.  If there is dissonance in  any area you will be sabotaging the opportunity to achieve the success that you want.
Perseverance on the other hand is come hell, high water or come what may,  you are going to continue on the chosen path.  Every great accomplishment came through consistent perseverance.  It is the idea of the last man standing.  It is the one who has truly overcome all obstacles against all odds.  It is that tenacious spirit that will never give up right to the end.  It is this concept of persistence that we all deem admirable where ever we may find it.
So here are some suggestions to help you in your path to that which you deem as “success”:
Winston Churchill said it so eloquently in a convocation address..   NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP.   Even when things seem impossible and all odds are stacked up against you, never quit or give up.  There will most certainly be bumps in the road and you will continually be faced with challenges.  Seek new ways to meet these challenges head on.
Change your perspective on the negative issues  that crop up in your life.   Look for the positive in each situation you encounter. Surround yourself with people that encourage this type of perspective and exemplify it in their own daily lives.  Hang around people who will build you up rather than tear you down.  This truly will help you become more consistent and persistent.
Become a person how take fully responsibility for his/her life.  When you take responsibility and no longer blame others for your lack of success, you  will find it to become easier to embed that consistent and perseverance nature into your own life.  Blamers are alway victims and being in a state of victim hood always robs you of power in your life.  Take responsibility and become empowered to move along the path of success.
Perseverance and Consistency will bring a new found strength and empowerment to your life.  It will begin to help you think correctly, speak correctly and act correctly attracting that seemingly elusive “success’ just as  bees are attracted to honey.
